Team Sledge Hammer's motto is "another day at the rock pile"
Its a funny story about Dean and a borrowed 12 pound sledge hammer and another trip to the emergency room .... Dean said "well Joan dropped off the 12 pound sledge hammer while I was half away around the lake on her way to the lab, and I did a second lap and a half with the little 12 pounder sledge hammer ... I mean I carried the tree slab around the lake twice the day before right!? and playing with the sledge hammer was certainly more fun".
Team Sledge Hammer's mission statement is to raise our fitness levels and enter races around the region and beyond by participating in Charity Events. We will race for Cancer, MS, Diabetes, Transplantation, and our Troops. Dean Chapman's goal is to run a marathon in 2009, or finally get that knee replacement trying! As well as to let some one else be the new poster boy or girl!
Our Training grounds vary from Como Lake, Lake Harriet, and The U of M steam tunnels and campus.
Join us for exercise, coffee, breakfast, conversation - and making fun of Dean "Sparky" Chapman the team poster boy - mornings and weekends! Join US!!

Yoo Who? and Joanie at Como for training laps, and some kind of editorial on the company?!
Graduated Joan and Yoo Who? at the Marina.
The importance of cross training as demonstrated - Discovering the Reality - yes yes Dean used to be the all powerful ... boy scout - dock boy - life guard - cabana boy at Squaw Point; and although he thinks he can gas 'anything' up once he gets his hands on it, this boat is well - not moving!
Note the father instructing his son in the right of the photo "Son, showing off can get you hurt - he is a professional idiot, no you can't do that at home"
Team Sledge Hammer is supporting Professor Donna on her MS ride.
Donna's Story - Why I Ride
While I do not personally know anybody who suffers from MS, I
am a breast cancer survivor (over 10 years now!) I feel lucky to be fit enough
to live an active lifestyle, and I do not take it for granted. So I've
registered for the Bike MS: Larkin Hoffman 150 Ride 2008 because I want to be an
example of active health and because I want to help to prevent more people from
having to learn what it means to live with this disease. Today there is no cure
for multiple sclerosis, and with diagnosis occurring most frequently between the
ages of 20 and 50, many people face a lifetime filled with
unpredictability. I'm riding with Backdrafters because it's a friendly group
and I like the shirt.
